where has the week gone

workout: I ran four miles tonight outside in the neighborhood. yesterday I ran three. So not too bad. Ill run 3 tomorrow so that will be 10 for the week so far.

This weekend I am traveling to Missouri to see my mom and my sister. It will be my mom’s 60th birthday. On the agenda we’re are going to Lambert’s, home of the throwed rolls. They are awesome. They physically throw the rolls out to you. It’s not like they deck you with them, it’s more of a toss. They also have fried okra and other sides that they pass around. My husband is super jealous.

Shout out to my sister who is in a running program. She said she would take me to a few running trails that she has been training on. I’m really excited and enjoy new running locations. Nothing else has really happened this week. That is probably why I haven’t posted anything.

I will be watching The Office tonight, as everyone knows it is Steve Carrell’s last episode. I don’t know about Will Ferrell’s character. So far I don’t like him on the show. Don’t get me wrong I am a big fan of him and his movies just not on The Office.

I am probably not going to wake up super early to watch the royal wedding, but I will be sure to catch the highlights on the news. Someone asked me why I am really excited about it. There comment was ” That the royalty are paid out of Britain’s taxes for no reason. Why would I want to watch this, why is it so important.” I replied that I am a hopeless romantic and it makes me happy. Ha!!!! you can’t please everyone.

Easter morning run

workout: 4 miles outside. It was a little overcast and cool this morning which was perfect. I ran around my neighborhood that I had mapped out earlier this week. My goal was 6 miles this morning but that didn’t happen. At some points it got really windy but I got through it. I kept the screen door open and my cats were looking out and I waved at them every time i passed the house.

I am going to run outside again tomorrow. It is not as boring as running on the treadmill.

Today the husband and I are going to his grandparents house for Easter dinner. It will be nice to see some faces that I hadn’t seen in a while.

Slacker!!!

I know I know, I haven’t been on in a few days. I have been feeling kinda of blah. But Im starting again tomorrow.

Nothing new this week, went to the fabulous hair salon today and got my hair did and then to the eye doctor. Why is it that when your eyes get dilated it takes forever for them to get back to normal. So I don’t have alot to do tonight as the husband is watching hockey. ( No control over the t.v.) I cant read my nook and cant really see the computer too well. So this will be a short post.

I did map out a trail around my neighborhood so I’m going to attempt that this week.

Another Monday almost done

No workout today. I’m sticking with the running every other day thing and it seems to helping my foot.

My husband grilled some chicken and I made brown rice, black beans and some veggies. Not too bad, definently filling. And I love me some black beans.

Monday is basically over now that I am home from work. Mondays are the most difficult.

As you all know today was the Boston Marathon. Congrats to all that ran it. Maybe I’ll be one of the lucky ones to run it in the future.

This week I am increasing my run to 3 sets of 18 minutes. I will do that 4 times this week.

So we will see how that pans out.

Summer is approaching quickly. I know this summer my husband and I are going to Cheyenne Frontier days. But no trips planned. Do you have any trips planned?

another outside run

workout: I went to the park again today to run 5 miles. I am not really happy with myself right now. Here is how it went.

I started off pretty good. I passed .5 and the 1 mile markers pretty easily. I then got to 1.5 and my stomach started burning. I stopped for about 30 seconds and decided to go again. I had really pumped myself up about running the 5 miles outside instead of the treadmill.

I got to the 2.5 mile marker where my husband was waiting for me. Here is where he took a picture of me going towards him. I am wearing my target outfit (champion) that I had discussed in a previous post.  I stopped for about a minute and my stomach was worse.

Being halfway done I said “oh well Ill just be sick later”. So I started again heading back to the car and got back to the 2 mile marker and was sick. It is pretty embarrassing when some walkers ask if I was ok? I said yes and thanked them and just started walking.

My husband caught up to me and I told him I was sick and he walked to the car with me. He had decided to ride his bike on the trail.

I had a purple G2 ( my favorite) waiting for me in the car and I couldn’t drink it fast enough.

On the way home I started feeling better. I am thinking maybe I didn’t eat enough yesterday, I did only have a piece of chicken for dinner and nothing really before the run this morning.

oh well you win some and lose some. In total I ran only 3 miles and walked the other 2 which is better than nothing I guess. I am going to relax the rest of the day and watch some Talladega racing. We ordered a pizza because of course now I am starving. We will see how that settles in my stomach.

Partylite Party

workout: I walked two miles in about 30 minutes at a pace of 4. I then did 3 sets of weights. I’m excited for tomorrow because I am going to the park and running 5 miles.

Today I am going to a party lite party that two of my friends are throwing.I haven’t see these people in a while so it should be lots of fun. I’m going to pick up my friend Lindsey and then were going to head on down to the party. My husband can’t wait to see what I buy. :)

One of the girl’s ,Tara who is helping to throw the shindig, is an awesome cook so I am sure there will be some yummy treats there.

Later today I am going to go to Dick’s Sporting Goods to pick up my Bolder Boulder packet. I am realizing this race is coming at me pretty rapidly so I really need to get my training into high gear. Thus the 5 mile run tomorrow.

Good news is my husband mentioned taking his bike, so he can keep me focused on getting through it. I think after that we will grille some chicken tonight. Well the chicken will be for me, my husband is probably going to make some burgers or something for himself.

Other plans for today: I need to get the laundry done. Not my favorite thing but hey I can’t go around wearing dirty clothes. Maybe my husband will clean the kitchen while I am gone. ( Hopefully he reads this lol).

Famous Daves!!

Tonight my husband and I went to Famous Daves with a couple of friends. We got the feast for four which is huge. It is basically a trash can lid full of food. After the four of us stuffed ourselves we still had left overs.

But wait you ask…. it is a BBQ place…. and you don’t eat red meat. It’s ok they had plenty of chicken for me to eat. And their corn bread is almost better than my mom’s…. almost.

workout: I did a treadmill workout last night. Three sets of 17 minutes. The first 10 minutes I ran at a 5.5 and then the last 7 minutes I alternated from a 6 for one minute and then 5.5 for two minutes. I then did weights. 

I’m taking a rest day today. It seems that my plantar faciatis is coming back which is upsetting because I don’t want to stop running. As you know I had an injection two weeks ago and it really helped. UGH … maybe I’m just tired today. I am soooo glad it is Friday.

I have also decided to take a rest day tomorrow. Maybe I’ll cross train and ride the bike to get some exercise in.

Just signed up!!!

So my husband and I signed up for the 10k. It is my first race and I am really excited. It is on Memorial day and our wave starts at 8:30 or so. Here is a picture of the shirt I picked.

I have a few things I need to accomplish before the race:

1. Get to 6 miles. I have only done this twice and I had to be having an awesome day when this happened because now I’m exhausted after 4.5 miles. The 10k is 6.2 miles so I will really need to crack down on it.

2. My plantar fasciatis is getting better I think. I am still icing it most days but it is not hurting as much as I run the longer distances.

3. I do need to work on my speed. I have been so focused on getting the mileage that I haven’t cared what MPH I am running at.  I was reading in a running magazine to do the first mile at a comfortable pace and then alternate a few minutes at 45 seconds faster per mile and then go back to the original pace. So I’m going to try that this week on my remainder sets.

4. I bought a running outfit at Target. I would love to get something from Sport’s authority or something like that but I spent probably $25 on a jacket and capris. The name brand is Champion and it so I’m happy.

I’ll be sure to update a picture when I get my running bib on race day!!!

oven is out of commission

workout: I did my treadmill workout tonight. I did three sets of 17 minutes and ran a total of 4.5 miles. I increased the mph to allow me to get to 4.5 which was good. I walked my normal 1 minute per sets. I then did some weights.

So yesterday I had planned to heat up a veggie lasagna that I had in the freezer. I set the oven to pre – heat and it did not heat up. After the Husband inspected the oven he came to the conclusion that it is just the coil that went bad. So I stuck the lasagna back in the freezer and we took a trip to Lowes and Home Depot. Unfortunately they do not sell oven coils and gave us a phone number to order.

So today my Husband calls the numbers and orders a coil but it won’t be shipped until April 25th. I guess we will be grilling and doing stove top dinners for the next few weeks.

So tonight were going off plan and having some BBQ shredded chicken from Jack Daniels (it is awesome by the way) and a side of steamed asparagus. They do a pulled pork version too but I do not eat pork. Its not that it is over our calorie limit it is just not technically clean eating as it is a packaged meal. But anyway…

The asparagus is steaming now and it smells really good. I added a little bit of Ms. Dash garlic and herb seasoning to the asparagus. My hands were a little shaky taking the asparagus picture.

 

 

I must say I am excited for the royal wedding coming up. I might have to record it on BBC. There is going to be a 6 part program on Lifetime that starts next Monday. I am not sure if it is going to go over details of the wedding or what. I might have to check it out.

Quesadilla Sunday

I have a love hate relationship with Sundays. Its my last chance to sleep in before the work week and a day off but it is the last day before the week starts.

Today I did a treadmill run of 3 sets of 17 minutes. It came out to 4.25 miles. I walked a minute between sets. It rained/snowed this morning so I couldn’t get outside to run like I had wanted. Plus I got to watch two episodes of Sex in the City while running. The treadmill can be completely boring without a tv or some kind of distraction.

For lunch I made quesadillas. I started by putting a tablespoon of olive oil in a pan on medium heat. I then added a tub of mushrooms and sliced onions.

Every time I heat up mushrooms I say don’t crowd the mushrooms from that movie Julie and Julia, haha I’m such a nerd. My cat Maggie even thinks so.

Keep cooking until mushrooms turn brown and the onions are soft.

I then add some fresh spinach and continue to heat until the spinach is wilted.

In another pan,I heat up to medium heat spray in some PAM and thrown on a tortilla. I used Mission whole wheat ones. I next add some cheese. Use to your liking.

I then take the spinach mushroom mix and put it  top of the cheese and then top with a little more cheese and top with another tortilla. Cook for about 2 minutes and flip.

Once done I added salsa and sour cream on top. MMM sour cream.

You can add chicken or steak to these if you would like. This recipe is a variation of a recipe I read on pioneer woman. She used butter in her recipe instead of the olive oil and PAM. I was trying to make it using less calories.
